Vin Vans' votes victory

Published:  18 April, 2008

Adnams' Cellar & Kitchen Stores has launched a delivery service by store staff to add a personal touch to online and mail order sales.

Each of the nine stores in the chain - the group's first London shop opened in Richmond last week - now has a van branded with Cellar & Kitchen's new logo, which staff can use to deliver

to addresses within a certain radius.

"It is a huge customer benefit as well as having benefits for us, because we can go out and talk to our customers and personalise the service even more - you are putting a name and face to a website order," said retail development manager Caroline Fox.

"We are really excited about that."

The delivery vans - called Vin Vans - have proved a hit with store staff.

Woodbridge manager Duncan Gooch said: "It is my pride and joy at the moment. We are really pushing the Vin Van, which is a wine van at customers' beck and call if they can't get to the store or if they want to get bulky items home."

Southwold manager Craig Biggar added: "It is a more personal service, we can talk to the customer knowledgeably about the wine we are delivering and also be careful with it, so it is not just dumped on a doorstep."
