What influences your choice of drinks?
Most men try out five to eight different beers before settling on their preferred brand, and taste and quality are the main influences on their choice of beer, a poll of more than 1,000 beer-drinking men for Greene King IPA has found.
Eighteen to 24-year-old drinkers were by far the most likely to be influenced by what their friends drank, with 29% drinking what their friends drink, compared with 3% of 51 to 55-year-olds. Thirty-six to 40-year-olds were most likely to choose a beer based on brand, and also the age group most influenced by alcoholic strength. Price was most important to 18 to 24 s and got gradually less important until drinkers reached 36-40, after which it crept up again.
The survey also found that most men settled on their favourite beer around the age of 35, having tried an average of seven brands before choosing their preferred one.
