Las Bodegas adds 30 wines to its list
Argentina specialist Las Bodegas is adding 30 new wines to its portfolio over the next two months – all of them new to the UK.
Nine are from two new winery partners in Mendoza – Bodega Diamandes and Espiritu de Argentina.
The rest come from existing suppliers such as Susana Balbo, Mauricio Lorca and Bodega Atamisque.
Chief executive Laurie Webster said: “Together the new wineries will provide Las Bodegas with exciting new wines at entry level from Espiritu de Argentina and at the premium end from DiamAndes. Thirty new wines arriving in the space of just six weeks underlines our aim to provide customers with the best possible choices from Argentina – all from one specialist importer.”
Bodega Diamandes is owned by the Bonnie family, owner of Grand Cru Classé Château Malartic Lagravière. It is part of Clos de los Siete, the enterprise founded by Michel Rolland on a single 130ha estate in Vista Flores in the Uco Valley. Its head winemaker is Silvio Alberto, formerly of Andeluna Cellars.
Espiritu de Argentina is a joint venture between Chilean producer Aresti, which owns the Espiritu brand, and Finca Agostino where the wines are made. Fruit is sourced mainly from the Maipú district of Mendoza from a combination of Agostino’s own vineyards and a number of independent growers.
