Courvoisier runs Dickens tour

Published:  09 November, 2011

Courvoisier is running a walking tour that visits places in London associated with the author Charles Dickens, who is believed to have been a fan of the Cognac.

The interactive tour runs for two weeks from November 23 and culminates at a pop-up Old Curiosity Shop, where a warm Courvoisier punch, inspired by one of Dickens’ Cognac punch recipes – the Smoking Bishop – will be served.

Courvoisier has celebrated links with Dickens since it was discovered that the author had a secret stash of 18 dozen bottles of French pale brandy, labelled Pale Brandy F Courvoisier. Cognac punch recipes were included in many of his literary works.

Maxxium UK marketing controller for Courvoisier and imported whiskeys Eileen Livingston said: “The Courvoisier Dickens Punch Tour not only brings to life the link between Courvoisier and Charles Dickens, but also highlights Courvoisier as a mixable spirit that can be enjoyed all year round. By showing a different side to Cognac, it inspires consumers to upgrade their drinking experience to Courvoisier punch.

“As the UK’s number one Cognac, Courvoisier has driven the category back into growth through its revolutionary approach and exceptional performance. Our punch campaign is making a real impact with consumers and the results speak for themselves.”
