New buyer for Waitrose

Published:  03 August, 2011

Waitrose has created a new wine-buying role – responsible for Italian, bag-in-box, small bottle and low alcohol wines.

Former Asda buyer Katie Mollet will be joining the supermarket next week (August 8) to take on the role.

Mollet was responsible for Italy, Spain, Portugal, South Africa, Germany, the US, small bottles and bag-in-box at Asda, where she worked for five years, starting out as spirits trading assistant.

She said: “I am delighted and honoured to be joining the Waitrose wine team. The quality and diversity of the Waitrose wine range is industry-leading and I look forward to making my own mark on the range in the future.”

Buying manager for wine Andrew Shaw said: “Katie impressed us with her clear passion for the industry, excellent own-label experience and insightful awareness of consumer habits. We look forward to welcoming her to our team at Waitrose and developing her career further.”
