Another beer price glitch hits Tesco

Published:  24 June, 2011

A second EOPS error in three weeks has brought chaos to the beer aisles in some Tesco stores.

An error on Wednesday of this week saw the price of two cases of leading brands of lager – including Budweiser, Carling and Foster’s – scanned as a till price of £4, instead of a saving of £4, which would have bought the price down from £20 to £16.

News of the error spread like wildfire on the internet and there are reports of extra security guards being brought in to control shoppers.

The latest glitch follows an error of June 1 which led to three cases being sold for £10 in Scottish stores, leading to what some witnesses referred to as a stampede, and police being called to a branch in Greenock.
