Wells & Young's in beer recall

Published:  18 February, 2011

Wells & Young’s has issued a product recall on 12 bottled beers.

The recall affects bottles produced since January 4 and has been made as a result of a “quality issue” which could result in small fragments of glass being found in what the company said was “a small number of bottles”.

It added that no consumers had complained and the problem had been identified by internal quality checks.

The recall affects only products with certain batch codes and a full list is at www.wellsandyoungs.co.uk/home/news/product-recall.The brands involved are Bombardier, Burning Gold, Ram Rod, Courage Light Ale, Courage Best, Young’s Light Ale, Directors, Mongoose, Banana Bread, Young’s Bitter and Young’s Double Chocolate Stout.

Production director Jim Robertson said: “The risk of glass in bottles is extremely low. However, consumer safety is our number one priority and that is why we have made this decision.”
