Toorank launches eco-friendly packs

Published: 3rd June 2010

Written by: Laura Clark

Toorank is reducing its carbon footprint by using recyclable pouches for its Petrov Vodka.

The new Eco Refill pack holds 35cl of liquid and has a spout that twists open and can be re-sealed for later use.

It uses up to 90% less packaging waste than glass bottles, according to Christopher Lake, director of UK sales, and its carbon footprint is up to 80% less than that of glass bottles.

Asda will be stocking the green packs from this month.

"We’re all aware how important it is to do our bit to help the environment. In our industry, reducing packaging has to be one of our main aims,” Lake said.

Flexible drinks pouches generate 75% less emissions than the closest alternative, according to the Flexible Packaging Association.
