Cobra goes to the BAFTAs

BAFTA selects Cobra

Published: 4th February 2009

Written by: Nigel Huddleston

Cobra has become the official beer of British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

The deal means the lager brand will be exclusively served at BAFTA events in 2009, including the Orange British Academy Film Awards, which take place on Sunday, and the British Academy Television Awards.

Cobra Beer marketing director Will Ghali said: “Our partnership serves to further enhance our credibility as a supporter of the creative arts.

“This also gives us a great opportunity to put our beer into the hands of our target consumers at premium events.”

Cobra’s alliance with BAFTA follows a similar agreement with the British Film Institute (BFI) last year, which includes sponsorship of major film festivals including The Times BFI London Film Festival.

Cobra also has a 12-month exclusive contract as the “chosen beer” of the Curzon cinema chain.
